Our group started in 2011 from a desire of two kendokas to practice in Savannah, GA, where no dojo existed. One came from Canada, Yong-Sop Yeo, and the other one from Brazil, Humberto Guimaraes. Together, they started practicing at the YMCA in Pooler, GA.
Couple years later, Yong and Humberto opened the training to the public and Savannah Kendo Club became sister dojo of Columbia Kendo Club from South Carolina, whose head instructor was, and still is, Nozomu Ishimori.
In 2017, Savannah Kendo Club became an independent dojo under the South Eastern United State Kendo Federation (SEUSKF).
